FIA - and the tyre bids begin
Posted: 24 May 06 10:24 AM (United Kingdom)
Ok..we have read about how Scummi wants the Bridgestone tyre made to suit HIM in 2007 or he will quit F1 ( god please just do us all a favour and do that anyway will you )...so can you imagine what a blow this is to him to see that the FIA have  opened the bidding to ALL tyre companies who would like to be the sole supplier in F1 to put their bids in to cover from 2008 onwards ( 2 - 3 year deal)  please god dont let Bridgestone get that... seeing a new supplier in and seeing ALL the teams try to get their cars set up to a completely new tyre with NO ONE having an advantage...really would be  brill ...as for next season why do I feel we are looking at a possible Ferrari whitewash which  REALLY shouldnt be the case as I thought ( yes they have used the Bridgestone tyres now for years and therefore should have an advantage over Michelin users like Renault)
but I always thought that the Constructors or the winning team for that supplier had the tyres made up  more to suit THEIR car and not Scummis  car...

Yeah, looks like not even Bernie wants Scummi to hang around much longer, the only one who believes Scummi should stay in F1 seems to be Scummi himself. A work colleague of mine who has always been a real Scummi fan just said today that the guy should retire

Get the message, Scummi ? Nobody wants you - get lost !

I have NOT lost my mind — I have it backed up on tape somewhere.

Well, looking back at our fears and speculations 6 months ago, we can now all relax because the Scummi will not be there next year.

As for the tyres, what do you think ? Will it still be a Ferrari advantage ? What would you think of a Kimi / Felipe redwash next year ?

I think it would be OK if Kimi won the title - he deserves the success
