Lewis Hamilton believes he needs to up his game after seeing his championship lead cut at the British Grand Prix.
The 22-year-old McLaren driver started his home race from pole position but faded to third in the race due to a mistake in his first pit-stop and a wrong tyre strategy.
And after seeing his Spansh team-mate Fernando Alonso reduce his advantage in the world championship from 14 points to 12, the rookie said he needs to improve his driving.
"I think I need to step up my game which I intend to do," said Hamilton. "As a team we need to push as always but try to push even more if we can.
"You know for me as a driver I'm still learning, I still have time to find in myself through experience and I think we are going to a few tracks that I know so it should really make the weekend a bit easier but it doesn't."
"I've been here before but I've struggled in terms of pace. Making sure we get the car set up right, making sure we keep on moving forward with the car and ideally beat the Ferraris."
Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen was the biggest gainer on Hamilton at Silverstone as the Finn took his second win in a row. That means that in the last two races Raikkonen has closed his gap to the leader from 26 points to 18.
Well, nothing much he could do - the Ferraris were faster. Without the almost-Albers action in the pits, he might have been able to keep 2nd place
