RBR re-signs Coulthard
Posted: 07 Jul 07 6:02 AM (United States)
That's right, you heard it here first, ladies and gentlemen, Red Bull Racing, with their image of being hip, young, and edgy, continues to show how hip, young, and edgy they are by having the oldest lineup on the grid and re-signing the oldest driver in F1 to a fourth season with the team.

Of course, going by their form the last season and a half or so I can't be too surprised. It's not like anyone not already in the team would voluntarily drive for them... well, except for those two losers at Spyker, but they don't really count. Seriously, I doubt you or I would want to be in their position.

Anyway, my point is that RBR has sucked ever since they lost the Cossie engines and had to make their own chassis instead of building from what Jaguar left them. Maybe Ford should have decided to hold on for one more year, they might still be here if they did...

Another problem with this is it renders their whole driver development program completely useless. The way Toro Rosso has been since day one they're basically paying two drivers to sit around and masturbate since that car is slow as fuck and won't last but a dozen laps anyway. I can't really blame Red Bull for doing that instead of giving one of the STR drivers an opportunity to advance though. Looking at the results both Speed and Liuzzi probably can't do anything else right. I mean, they certainly can't drive. It could just be a motivation problem though. I doubt I'd be driving that well if I was basically being told "We're going to take you, support your career for years and years, get you to the big time, then keep you one step away from the A team for the rest of your career while we continue to employ a driver old enough to be your father." How does it feel to sit there and watch a washed up man who has been crashing into pit walls since before you even knew what a crash or a pit wall was?

Somewhere a very depressed Austrian billionaire is eating a gallon of ice cream and crying himself to sleep...

Well, yeah - but I doubt any of the two STR youngsters would do any better anyway in the A team. Maybe they should really have employed an A driver for their A team ?

Well, they got Webber, that was a step... uh... sideways.

Really I was using this as an excuse to do a (very) half-assed rant on something just so everyone knew I wasn't dead.

It worked - I must admit that I was glad to see that you are still around

Well as A DC fan Im over the moon ofcourse that hes staying with RBR for another season...  this one for sure hasnt lived up to the expectations everyone thought when Adrian Newey came to the team....however there are times when they do show speed - but untill they get all the reliability sorted then sadly points will be far and few between...

I was at the DC party on the thursday before the British GP and he told us then although official announcement wasnt due till the Friday morning that he was staying...Hes frustrated by the car - but is very sure that next season they will have a bit more understanding of the car...Its been a new gear box - new designer - new tyres and new engine - so a lot of ' new ' things to get to work together..

I would love to see them get into a regular points scoring position for the rest of the season...who knows....Is all their problems down to this seamless gearbox - ? Should they maybe convert back to the old system??  who knows  but I know the guys at RBR are working hard - ofcourse all the other teams are aswell....but we do need to see them getting  both cars to the finish -  Im not sure of the statistics for this season but are RBR the most unreliable car so far this season with failures to finish races through mechanical problems rather than accidents?
