No team orders at Ferrari

Ferrari have insisted that there will be no team orders between Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen this season.

With former driver Michael Schumacher, the Italian team always had a designated number one and two driver, and it yielded five straight world titles for the German between 2000 and 2004.

But since Schumacher's retirement at the end of last season, the team have allowed Massa and Raikkonen - who have each won a race this season - to go head-to-head.

Sporting director Stefano Domenicali said: "No [there will be no team orders]. The track will give the answer at the end.

"For us, it's important that they [the drivers] will have maximum support from the team, both from an engineering and from a psychological point of view and from the motivation point of view.

2Then, it's the lap time and the track that will give the answer."

Domenicali was speaking after Massa's dominant Bahrain Grand Prix win, which closed him to within five points of joint championship leaders Raikkonen and McLaren duo Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton.

And he stressed that while Ferrari's priority for the season was to win both the drivers' and constructors' titles, it was not important which driver delivered.

He added: "From our side, just don't forget that we are working for Ferrari, that's the team and for us that's the most important thing to do.

"For sure it's great to see two drivers that are challenging in a very sporting way, they are very, very strong and I'm pretty sure the championship will be fantastic this year, because we have seen some other drivers that are very strong."

Almost too good to be true ? I hope it is true, of course there will be team orders later in the season if one has turned out to be the points leader but it would be extremely refreshening to see some fair play from Ferrari

I have NOT lost my mind — I have it backed up on tape somewhere.
