David Coulthard, the oldest driver in Formula One, has taken a dig at a few of his colleagues.

The 35-year-old Scot, hitting out at pay-drivers and sons of famous fathers, was defending his decision to stick around for a fourteenth consecutive season in the sport this year.

"I don't pay for my cockpit or have a father who drove in Formula One - I am still here because my team believes that I bring them value by performing at the highest level," Red Bull's Coulthard told motorline.cc.

He said recently that his 2005 and 2006 team-mate, Christian Klien, entered the F1 circus with Red Bull backing at too early an age.

Yeah, right ! It's OK that Formula 1 is very much about money but rich people's sons have nothing to do here if they are only average drivers. And I am actually also getting fed up with ex-drivers's sons. And ex-champions' brothers

I have NOT lost my mind — I have it backed up on tape somewhere.

So... does that mean that this is his year?

I try not to think. It's not really a hallmark of my generation.

Ok its nice to pop my head in onto the site...and seeing the DC thread I just had to have a little say...

I dont think David thinks hes got a chance of anything especially at the start of the season....RBR are behind with the winter testing...and have openly admitted that BUT with fingers crossed they can get the Newey design car up to its full potential...THEN we may see some regular points finishes and who knows a podium again this year... We saw with Webber what the car IS capable of...and thats with the car running properly...according to the F1 racing magazine the majority of people do expect Webber to out qualify DC on a regular basis...but its David they expect to finish the races and get the points........we have only had one race so I wont right them off in any shape or form but how nice it would be to see told you so !! at the end of the season
